Congratulations on being selected by your fellow Scouts to become a member of the Order of the Arrow. It is indeed an honor. Now that you’ve been selected to become a member of the Order of the Arrow, here are the next steps to take an Ordeal:
Reedsville, Pa — Registration is now open for the Spring Ordeal held May 19 through 21 at Seven Mountains Scout Camp. This is the first Ordeal that the Lodge will host for 2017. The lodge will continue to work on projects began earlier this year and setting up camp for the summer.
Scouts who are called out at one of the spring camporees held in the districts over the next two weeks have the opportunity to take their Ordeal this weekend.
Bellefonte, Pa — Nate Ripka and Paul Grego were announced as the 2016 Founder’s Award recipients at the Family Banquet in Bellefonte on November 6.
The Founder’s Award was created to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to their lodge. Those Arrowmen who demonstrates to fellow Arrowmen that he or she memorializes in his or her everyday life the spirit of achievement as described by founder E. Urner Goodman and co-founder Carroll A. Edson.
Registration for the Family Banquet is now closed
Reedsville, Pa — You and your family are invited to an evening of dinner and fellowship at the 2016 Monaken Lodge Family Banquet. This year’s banquet will be held on Sunday, November 6.
Featured this evening will be Jeffrey R. Frazier, author of the Pennsylvania Fireside Tales series containing folktales and legends from all around the state, a report from the Key 3 of the Lodge, and as well as the announcement of the two recipients of the Founder’s Award.
This year’s banquet will be held at the Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. Fellowship and social will begin at 5:30pm with the dinner beginning promptly at 6:00pm.
The cost of the banquet is $12.00 per person.
Reedsville, Pa — Registration is now open for the Woodchuck Ordeal held October 14 through 16 at Seven Mountains Scout Camp. This is the last Ordeal Weekend that the Lodge will host for 2016
Scouts who were called out in 2016 (either at a spring camporee or at summer camp) and have not yet completed their Ordeal have the opportunity to take their Ordeal or they will have to be elected by members of their peers again in 2017.
Brothers who have been an Ordeal member for at least 10 months are invited to take their Brotherhood Ordeal at this weekend. More information on the Brotherhood program can be found at monaken.org/programs/lodge/brotherhood/.
Spring Mills, Pa — Ross Cottrill has been elected by his peers to become Shawnee Chapter Chief during the Chapter Meeting held this past Sunday at the Fall Ordeal. He is currently ending his term as Vice Chief, which he has served since October 1, 2015.

Spring Mills, Pa — Cole Buchart has been re-elected by his peers to serve as Nittany Chapter Chief for the 2016-2017 year during the Nittany Chapter Meeting held at the conclusion of the Fall Ordeal on Sunday.
Cole has served in various officer and committee positions including Nittany Treasurer and as Lodge Service Chairman.
Spring Mills, Pa — Nate Ripka has been elected at the Fall Ordeal to become the next Lodge Chief for Monaken Lodge. He succeeds Zach Bonson. The position of the office of Monaken Lodge Chief dates back to 1936 when Jack Swetic was appointed the first chief (http://monaken.org/history/key-3/).
Reedsville, Pa — This Sunday marks the elections for Lodge Officer and Chapter Officer positions. If you are interested in running for an officer position, here’s what you need to know.
In order to qualify, you must:
- Be under 21 for the entire term (term last from October 1, 2016 until September 30, 2017)
- Be current in your dues with Monaken Lodge
- Be a registered Scout in a Unit in the Juniata Valley Council
